19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
